MAWADDAH was built for Muslims who are serious about marriage and want a process rooted in trust, modesty, and care. Inspired by the Qur'anic concept of love and mercy in marriage, MAWADDAH is not a dating app — it is a guided, moderator-assisted matchmaking platform that respects you, your family, and your dīn.
Who is behind MAWADDAH
Built by a small South African Muslim team.
MAWADDAH is built by a small team of South African Muslims who saw, in our own families and communities, how hard it had become to find a sincere spouse without compromising on dignity, privacy, or the etiquette of seeking nikāḥ. We are not a venture-backed startup. We are not selling data. We are not running ads. The platform is funded modestly and answers to its community.
We are advised by ʿulamāʾ, ʿālimāt, and experienced community members. The product is shaped by direct feedback from families, walīs, and singles — people who have walked this journey and know where existing platforms fall short.

How we are launching
We are launching deliberately and quietly. The first community is in South Africa, where we are based and where our moderator network is strongest. From there, we will expand by invitation as moderator capacity grows in each region — we would rather grow slowly with the right people than fast with the wrong ones.
